Players may sign up as individuals. We will match up these players together and form teams.
The famous Paddle War colored towel, team, players social on Friday afternoon with beer, wine, and our famous homemade chex mix (weather permitting), and a possible 2 full days of pickleball.
Full refunds are given up to four weeks prior to the event. If withdrawal is made within 4 weeks but before the draws are posted a 50% refund will be given. Once the draws have been posted, or we are within two weeks of the tournament, there are no refunds whatsoever. IF we can replace you without cost to us, we will do our best to accommodate.
Unfortunately, Paddle War cannot control Mother Nature. In all the years we have been running events, there has only been one weekend completely cancelled due to weather. Amelia Island, FL (2017) was disrupted by Hurricane Irma. But from time to time, we encounter rain that delays us for a couple of hours or sometimes it is a complete washout for the day. Please know that we ALWAYS do our best to provide the players as much court time as possible. The PW team and the pros at each facility work in conjunction to make this all happen. The worst case scenario is when it rains us out on Sunday, and we obviously do not have the time to make up the matches. We must not only keep in mind the players who are wanting to play, but also the players who have already made travel plans for later in the day. If this circumstance does happen, we sincerely apologize, as it is not the way we would like our events to end. As much as we would like to give refunds or even partial refunds, it simply does not calculate out for us to be able to do that as our expenses are locked in for the weekend. We trust you all understand!
One unavoidable thing in all events, especially some of our larger tournaments are defaults. We try as hard as possible to prevent these but people get hurt or things happen out of their control and certainly ours. We always do our best to backfill missing teams, but it is obviously a difficult task on such short notice. If you are one of the unfortunate players to get a default (it will happen), just know we are disappointed as well.
The Paddle War experience, besides the competitive pickleball, is a fun weekend with friends filled with exciting events, lots of laughs, and a memorable time overall.
Women's, Men's, and Mixed Doubles. Players may play in two different events.
Combined Rating: When forming a doubles team, the ratings of both players are added together to get the combined rating. For example, if one player has a rating of 3.0 and their partner has a rating of 4.5, the combined rating would be 7.5.
The format ensures that even if players have different skill levels, the brackets they compete in are appropriate for their combined rating. This creates opportunities for players of all levels to compete together and enjoy the tournament experience.
Overall, this format encourages camaraderie and allows players to partner up with friends or players they admire, regardless of their individual skill levels. It creates an inclusive and fun environment for everyone involved.
All teams will start out in a Paddle Battle bracket. In the Paddle Battle bracket, all teams will play games with rally scoring to 21 to determine each doubles team competitive levels. The number of games depend on the draw size. Teams are then place into appropriate brackets. With this unique format, players do not have to worry about ratings and can partner up with whomever they wish. All double teams end up playing against other double teams of similar skill in their final bracket. In bracket play, teams will play best 2 out of 3 games to 15, rally scoring, win by 2. Players will only have the option of playing in 1 draw, Women’s, Men’s or Mixed Doubles, as that in itself will be a ton of pickleball for the weekend totaling at least 10 matches over a 2 day span.
