Rain & Defaults

Unfortunately, Paddle War cannot control Mother Nature. In all the years we have been running events, there has only been one weekend completely cancelled due to weather. Amelia Island, FL (2017) was disrupted by Hurricane Irma. But from time to time, we encounter rain that delays us for a couple of hours or sometimes it is a complete washout for the day. Please know that we ALWAYS do our best to provide the players as much court time as possible. The PW team and the pros at each facility work in conjunction to make this all happen. The worst case scenario is when it rains us out on Sunday, and we obviously do not have the time to make up the matches. We must not only keep in mind the players who are wanting to play, but also the players who have already made travel plans for later in the day. If this circumstance does happen, we sincerely apologize, as it is not the way we would like our events to end. As much as we would like to give refunds or even partial refunds, it simply does not calculate out for us to be able to do that as our expenses are locked in for the weekend. We trust you all understand!

One unavoidable thing in all events, especially some of our larger tournaments are defaults. We try as hard as possible to prevent these but people get hurt or things happen out of their control and certainly ours. We always do our best to backfill missing teams, but it is obviously a difficult task on such short notice. If you are one of the unfortunate players to get a default (it will happen), just know we are disappointed as well.

The Paddle War experience, besides the competitive tennis, is a fun weekend with friends filled with exciting events, lots of laughs, and a memorable time overall.

How Double Teams Can Be Formed?

Players may play with different partners for each event.

Combined Rating: When forming a doubles team, the ratings of both players are added together to get the combined rating. For example, if one player has a rating of 3.0 and their partner has a rating of 4.5, the combined rating would be 7.5.

The format ensures that even if players have different skill levels, the brackets they compete in are appropriate for their combined rating. This creates opportunities for players of all levels to compete together and enjoy the tournament experience.

Overall, this format encourages camaraderie and allows players to partner up with friends or players they admire, regardless of their individual skill levels. It creates an inclusive and fun environment for everyone involved.
